The prolific Stephen Mitchell presents here psalms selected and adapted from the Hebrew, and a heart and mind warming collection it is.

His intent, he says in his Foreword, was to “follow the spirit, wherever it wanted to take me, into a language that felt genuine and alive.” Enough readers have agreed that he carried out that intent to keep the book in print for many years.
